What is the difference between life coaching and therapy?
The best way I can describe difference between coaching and therapy is that therapy is primarily focussed on processing the past, whereas coaching is primarily focussed on creating your future. But often its not that black or white. There are many aspects of therapy that focus on the future, and there are some aspects of coaching that focus on the past.
With that said, many people like to have a therapist and a life coach.
Unlike therapists, coaches cannot provide a mental health diagnosis, prescribe medication, and do not work with your medical team.
Since coaching is focussed on helping you create new results in life, continuity in coaching is important. As you meet with your coach weekly, your learning and growth compounds, which then leads you to create new results in your life, business, or at work. For this reason coaching is generally offered in packages, whereas therapy can often be booked in single sessions.
Some companies will cover your coaching fee, especially if you’re in a leadership position (please discuss with them prior to booking your sessions with Priya).
Priya uses brain & nervous system based coaching which is rooted in neuroscience. She combines various modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy, positive psychology, creative imagination, visualization, hypnotherapy, thought work and fuses them into her own unique coaching & teaching methodology.
